New Blog, Same Awesome Content

Just wanted anyone that may be still looking at this blog to know that I have stopped posting here and have moved to a new space. My new and improved personal/tech blog can be found here at Blog.DevonSchreiner.com.

I realize this is a little bit late, as I haven't posted on this blog in a while but there it is. So check out the new blog and enjoy my crazy thoughts. Let's see if this will be the last time I retire my Blogger blog or not. :)

Day 17: 9/14/2011 | The Blog Blender

So here is the revelation of today: I can't keep up with more than one blog. Heck, I can barely keep up with one at a time. And I feel really bad about it. I've started multiple blogs and wish that I could update every single one of them all the time, but I can't.

That leads me right into the solution of this post. I think I'm going to end up combing at least two of those blogs, which would probably include this one. Right now, I am planning on combing this, my personal blog, and The Tech Blender, my technology focused blog.

"But how, Devon?" you're asking yourself, "a personal blog and a technology blog don't go together!" Well, before you get your pants in a bunch, let me explain. Since I started The Tech Blender back in February, 2010, I've been posting on and off but honestly, mostly off. It's hard for me to keep blogging on multiple different blogs. I also know that I will never make it big with The Tech Blender. I will never be hiring a staff, it will never be my full-time job. So why try to make it that?

I'm going to be turning this combined site into a personal blog about my life, my technology and everything that's going on around me. I'll be able to post anything without fear of it being out of the guidelines of the blog category.

So bear with me as I'm combining the sites, playing with templates and experimenting with different looks. Hopefully it will be done here soon.

Day 16: 9/13/2011 | Patch Tuesday

The second Tuesday of the September is upon us and you all know what that means. It's Patch Tuesday! If you're running Windows on any computer, there are updates available. Go and download them right now!

Now, for the non-techie readers in the audience, this is not the only day of them month that you should be updating your software. This is just the day that Microsoft comes out with all their big patches of the month. You should be updating your software anytime a new version is released. Especially big name software like Adobe products, browsers and things like Skype and MSN Messenger.

Ok, that was my general PSA for the day. I'm not really sure what happened to this post. I wasn't ready for it and I'm just not in the right mind to be writing I don't think. Nothing is really coming out the way I wanted it to. But I expected this to happen. I'm not going to be in the mood to write every single day for the rest of my life. I'm going to have days that just don't feel right, days that I don't know what to write about. Here's one. Refrigerator.

Day 15: 9/12/2011

Question: What are the important things in life? A couple of things today really made me think of how much I am enjoying my life and how great it actually is.

First, I started my new job at BrightPlanet. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to use my skills, learn new ones and further myself in my career. A career that I really love. Computers are something that have not been around for long but I am glad I've gotten into them. I'm glad that I like my career choice now and I feel good knowing that I'm going to enjoy the rest of my working life.

The second thing that I did was played some Dance Dance Revolution! I try to exercise to make myself a little healthier, and DDR is something that I enjoy doing. Hopefully I keep it up every once and a while.

Last but probably the most important. I love being reminded that someone else loves me so much, that I know I'm never going to be alone again. Katie makes me feel like I'm actually wanted and I just get butterflies anytime I think about her. But more importantly, this is how I know she's a keeper: She made me a rage comic!

I really do have the best girlfriend in the world! :'D

Day 14: 9/11/2011

Two weeks. Fourteen days straight of writing on this blog (with the exception of one day I wrote the next morning because I completely spaced it...). But non-the-less, I'm proud of myself. I've stuck to it for two weeks and I plan on keeping it going. I have been doing some thinking though and I'm going to be switching this up a little bit to hopefully keep it more interesting for me and for everyone else.

As of right now, I've just been doing a recap of the day. I did this, then this, then I went here, then this happened. It's really boring. So instead of doing a recap, I'm going to pick one thing from the day and write a little bit more in-depth about that thing. Something I see, something I do, something I thought of or something that happens. I think this will be much more entertaining and helpful to everyone involved.

Some examples that I was thinking I could have used for the blog today: The fact that it's the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the season opener for the Vikings today that they lost..., going to the Humane Society today, something a little bit more important that I can talk about for a while. This also leaves the blog open to more than one post/important thing a day as long as I keep to the guideline of at least once a day.

So there you have it, the one thing I talked about today is the plan for the new way I'm going to utilize this blog and try to make myself better. Chances are it will be pretty easy to figure out tomorrow's topic, I start work at BrightPlanet tomorrow. That is also the reason I should get to bed....

Day 13: 9/10/2011

We had a fun, lazy day today. Katie, John and I woke up late and sat around the apartment for a while. Finally, we went out to the new BDubs with my sister Caity, for lunch. That place is pretty legit. They built the place right.

After lunch we came back to my place, John and I played Dead Island for a little bit. I finally figured it out and got it working on my computer. Then we had to make a run for ice cream for Katie so we went down to Peachwave and satisfied our hunger. We followed ice cream up with a quick trip down to the falls and a drive out to XTrux to say hi to my dad and Moose for a minute.

A quick trip to Hyvee for some corn on the cob for supper and we were set for the night. Corn, chislic, hot dogs and some drinks made for a great supper. Follow that up with a Ghost Adventures marathon and I truly feel like I succeeded with a lazy day.

Day 12: 9/9/2011

Another era in the life of Devon Schreiner has ended today. I am no longer an employee at the Minnehaha County Court House. Today was the last day of my internship. I learned a lot while I was there but it's time to move on.

In other news, Monday starts my new job at BrightPlanet as an IT Specialist. Even though I'm not really sure what to expect yet, I know that it is going to be a lot of fun and an amazing learning experience. But more on this on Monday after I go in for my first day.

Tonight after work, I came home, cleaned a little bit, washed my motorcycle and then Katie and John showed up for the weekend. We went to eat at Krav'n tonight. It was pretty good. I think the cotton candy was a little over the top though.

We made it home and ended up playing some Dance Dance Revolution. Sorry Caity! She's right below us in my apartment building. In other good DDR news, we unlocked one of my favorite songs from when I first bought the game, Kind Lady (Interlude). And with that, I'll leave you with a video of the song. Enjoy!

Day 11: 9/8/2011

Ahhhh, the feeling of sleeping in is a great one. That's exactly what I did today. I slept in until about 9am. My 8am class was cancelled so the next thing was choir at noon. It felt really good. Also since I was able to leave later, I decided to ride my motorcycle. Not only is that a more fun way to get there but the gas is a heck of a lot cheaper too.

So I went to the couple classes I had, signed a petition to get the Libertarians on the ballet, picked up some paper work to turn my job into credit for an internship and confirmed that hopefully my financial aid will be in by Monday! Woohoo!

Then I got home, ate supper, watched an episode of 30 Rock(A Valentine's Day show where Jenna loses her stalker and Liz schedules a root canal so she doesn't have to be awake that day.) and then played a couple games of League of Legends.

I am kind of disappointed that we ended up just skipping the podcast tonight. One of the guys couldn't make it and we didn't really have much material anyway so we just decided to not do it. I really think we need to have a talk about what the future of the podcast is. I really love doing it but it's going nowhere fast right now. We need to figure out what to do with it otherwise I have a feeling it is just going to keep going downhill.

But I'm looking forward to tomorrow. It's Friday, my last day of work at the court house, I get to see Katie and we are definitely going to be doing something fun whether it be the drive-in or the Bike Night Finale, who knows! The sooner I go to bed the sooner it will be here though, so goodnight!

Day 10: 9/7/2011

Dang it! Day 10 comes around and I just completely forget about it. Didn't even cross my mind. So I'm going to try to make up for it. I think that getting it done sometime is just as important as doing it the actual day, I just don't want to get a couple weeks behind, because then it's just lame. And I don't want to be lame...

So work was good today. Second to the last day at the court house. I'm pretty excited for the last day, it will be a lot of cleaning and stuff. I'm going to try to get done with the Windows 7 upgrades I was assigned but I'm kind of doubting that's going to happen.

After work, it was time for Wednesday night Brother Suppers, and it was my turn to host! Of course, Jeff couldn't make it, but I still made some amazing burgers! Along with the burgers, I fried up some potatoes and make some of those pickle and cream cheese roll things. I have to say, I was happy with the meal. I like home cooked, simple, good meals like that. Give me burgers over fancy shmancy, expensive restaurant food any day.

After that I stayed up and got some of my Windows Administration lab done. It's taking forever because we are setting up our servers right now so it takes figuratively, a million years to do all the updates and installs that we need.

Then I stayed up late and Skyped with Katie! I didn't have to get up early because my 8am class was canceled!

Day 9: 9/6/2011

Tuesday means it's a school day. First day back after Labor Day weekend. I was up at 6am and in Wireless Communications by 7:30am. During my break before choir at noon, I ended up flashing CyanogenMod 7 onto my phone, throwing on an updated radio and playing with my newly flashed Thunderbolt. The GPS wasn't working quite right but many people commented that it could easily be fixed by flashing a different ROM and then restoring back. It didn't work and was way too long of a process. Flash forward to now and for some reason it magically works, I'm not complaining.

Tonight I played a couple of League games, I really love Teemo and we had a couple fun games. Then I remembered I'm hosting the Brother's Supper tomorrow so I figured I should do a little prep. I'm making these amazing burgers and fried potatoes tomorrow. Tonight I put together a couple of those pickle wrapped ham and cream cheese things. They are really good. I ate a few. But it should make for a good meal tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to my second to last day of work at the Courthouse tomorrow, there will be a lot of cleanup and general housekeeping stuff so it will be fun. That and I can't wait for this weekend. I'm not 100% sure what Katie has planned but I'm sure it's going to be a lot of fun! :D

Day 8: 9/5/2011

So luckily, I remembered to blog before I got into bed today! Sadly, I should have been in bed a long time ago already. I put my laundry in right about supper time and forgot about it until about 10:30. So it's drying now.

On a better note, I have had stuff to do. I've been talking to Katie on Skype, blogging and trying to reroot my Thunderbolt. It's been a while since I tried the first time so I figured I would try again.

Earlier today, Katie and John swung through on their way to Vermillion and had lunch. We went down to HuHot, it's one of our favorites!

Keeping it short tonight though, going to go get my laundry and head to bed. Back to school in Madison tomorrow morning.

Day 7: 9/4/2011

Today was our last day in Minnesota. The family started out by going to church at the Church of our Lady of Victory in Fergus Falls. It was a nice service and not to far from my aunt and uncle's house where we were staying. We drove back to find a giant meal of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, fruit and fried potatoes so we figured we should stay and eat some food.

Then we headed for home. Stopped in Watertown and got some Starbucks and my mom and I got into a big argument about who's frappuccinos were better, Starbucks' or McDonalds'. I'll give you one guess to who won :).

Then we made it to Sioux Falls where we went to eat at the Big Cheese. Pizza and beer always hits the spot. There I handed an old tablet off to my dad that I put Ubuntu onto. He's not very good with computers so we'll see how he does with Linux. Now I'm sitting at home relaxing. Looking forward to a day of seeing Katie and John and not much else tomorrow!

Also, if you want to see some pictures I took of my relative's game room, you can find them here. They are pretty ridiculous.

Day 6: 9/3/2011

Yay! Second blog post from my phone/Minnesota. Actually, I don't really like blogging on my phone, it takes too long. Today was also family pictures day. *sigh*

So we took a bunch of pictures, it was pretty nice outside so it wasn't too bad. Then we pretty much just ate, drank and had a good time with family. But I'm going to make this a quick post and end it before my battery dies. Goodnight!

Saturday, September 3, 2011

Day 5: 9/2/2011

Alright, I'm up in Minnesota for Labor day, visiting some relatives and I don't have internet other than my phone. So you will have to bare with, I'm writing this with my phone.

Today was a big day for me. I'm still not sureif I can talk about it yet but I'll just say I have a job secured for after the court house job is done. So I interviewed and accepted a position today, then finished the business day upgrading computers to Windows 7.

After work, I drove to Watertown to meet my brother, then we drove the rest of the way to my aunt and uncle's.

Tonight was a lot of fun. We had some drinks, played some darts, and enjoyed some animals. If I don't post some pictures when I have real internet, yell at me because I got a couple good ones of all their taxidermy.

Overall tonight had been really fun. Seeing family after this long is always fun. I just wish that Katie could have come this weekend, that would have made it a million times better.

Also, their cat is really friendly! :)

Day 4: 9/1/2011

And September is upon us. What a crazy month. What are we going to do with it? Honestly, I'm not really sure, but it will probably be fun.

So today was kind of crazy. Started off with driving to Madison and then receiving a crazy email. I don't really want to talk about it to much until things are finalized but it's pretty crazy, I'll tell you that. But then I had some fun with the rest of my classes and made my way home.

Tonight was a Thursday night so Shaun, Corey and I recorded the podcast. You can find tonight's episode here. Sadly, while making my drink for the show I ended up dropping and shattering one of my glasses. I think that means I'm down to four of those glasses now, I should probably look into plastics.

But, it's time for bed now, I've got a big day ahead of me tomorrow. Fun stuff and then after work I'm leaving for Minnesota with the family.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Day 3: 8/31/2011

Today is already the last day of August, that's just crazy. School has started, work at the court house is almost done and that means bills are due...

I started today off by stopping at my ISP and canceling my internet service. NooOo! My wonderful 50Mbps download speeds are gone!! Oh well. I'm just going to start using and paying for Caity's because we'll be moving in together soon enough anyways. But then I went to the court house and put in my eight hours.

Luckily, after a long day, I got to go and have supper with my brothers. Chicago style pizza from Papa Murphy's and beer is a pretty well balanced meal. After some Phi Kap talking, Jeff and I started brainstorming personal website ideas for him. He ended up just going with an About.me website also. It's the easiest and would be really easy to forward a domain to that page later.

And now I get to go to bed. I'll be up at 6am again tomorrow to drive to Madison for another round of classes. Wish me luck!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Day 2: 8/30/2011

It's already day two of my little project! It's going so fast! But here we go, the second post in the series.

Today was the first day of my senior year at Dakota State. Woke up at 6am to be able to drive all the way to Madison for my 8am Wireless Communications class. I've got a couple of interesting teachers. One that has quite an accent and another that is a little old fashioned. Other than that everything is going to be really fun this year. Finally stuff is getting real and this is the kind of information I want to be learning.

After a short choir meeting and the start of my Windows Administration class I drove home to Sioux Falls and got a haircut! This time I got it sooner rather than later, so I wouldn't have to deal with it being WAY to long.

I ended the night by grilling a couple brats and writing my personal website from scratch. It's very About.me-ish but without the the extra little things they add to promote themselves. Katie took the picture when we were down in Vermillion the last time and I thought it would make a nice background. You can check it out at DevonSchreiner.com.

Day #2 down, only the rest of my life to go.

Monday, August 29, 2011

Day 1: 8/29/2011

Alright, so here it is. I am now going to blog every day, just to talk a little bit about what I'm doing and what's going on in my life. This is something I don't really think is going to do much for anyone else, but it will help me write more as well as serve as a journal I can go back and look at anytime I want.

So I'm going to get right in. Today started my fifth to last day at the court house. I know this now because I just called Mac Pros this afternoon and told them I would take the job there. So I will be starting work there on Sept. 12th. It should be a lot of fun, or at least I think so.

After work, I also got to start my Database Management Systems class at the University Center. There are a couple of old guys in the class that have no idea what they are doing and they got kind of annoying.

Then the big moment came, I decided to write this blog post. I'm starting something big here. Challenging myself to write something every single day for the rest of forever is a big deal. I know that I won't do it every single day for the rest of my life, but I think it would be fun to be able to look back after doing it for a couple years. I am also really excited because I got Katie Stumpf, my girlfriend to do it with me! Here is the blog she is using.

So there it is! Probably longer than most of these posts are going to be, but this is it. This is what I wanted to do. Just a snapshot of my life today. Mission Accomplished. Tomorrow: The same exact thing.

Another Blog?!?

So I really like writing and blogging, it's a lot of fun to do. I would probably already say that I have too many blogs than I can handle. I'm really bad at updating them but I don't know if I would say it's because I don't have time, I think it's because I don't have anything to say about that has to work on them.

So I'm trying to come up with something new, probably to do with this blog here, that I would have something more to write about. Chances are almost every day. I'm not really sure how much of it I want to give away yet, but I just wanted to write something down to see where I could go from here. Let's see what happens!

People Should Smile More

Hey everyone! Are you smiling? Well you will be after you watch this video. It's really good. Light, upbeat and all about smiling. It doesn't matter what's going on in your life or in the world. Guess what, being sad, depressed, mad, or anything else isn't going to change anything. Just be happy.

My life motto is "Hack Life." Not because I'm a computer geek, not because I can re-wire myself to do better. When you go back to the roots of hacking, it wasn't about cheating the system, getting money or anything like that. Hacking was about learning, making things better and making things work. I don't want to hack the world to give myself the best job, the most money and the best house. I want to hack myself to turn myself into the best person I can be. I want to be able to learn about exactly how I work and then tweak all the bugs until I get my life just the way I want it. I think smiling more is the first step for most of us.

Team Fortress 2 Is Now Free

So guys, I've never actually played it yet but I have been debating for a long time. It's been getting cheaper and cheaper for a long time but now it's finally free. Team Fortress 2.

This announcement comes as kind of funny to me because just the other day a couple friends were playing TF2 and telling me to get it because it was a measly $10. Well I guess I'm glad I waited, now I can pick it up for free and so can you.

Make sure you at least check it out. This is a huge game that doesn't look like development is stopping anytime soon. And it's free! Go! Now!

Are Password Managers A Good Idea?

So I've been toying with the idea of using a password manager for a while. As you all know I love passwords and the human thinking that goes behind them but this is a weird step for me. It takes all the thinking out of it.

The question is, do you put all of your passwords to your computer life behind one master password that can be cracked? But if you do then you can have amazing, super-complex passwords on everything that you have. I've made a pro and con list over on The Tech Blender that is a little more specific/in-depth.

I personally am going to be giving KeePass a try. It looks to me like the easiest, safest and cheapest route. Let's see what happens. Can I make it through the week?

Monitor Commotion

For most of my posts on The Tech Blender so far I've tried to be very informative and provide some sort of useful information. This post is going to be a little bit different. I've made an observation and I want your feedback. I want to know what you think.

At my place of work, we are upgrading all of the computers to have widescreen, 22 inch monitors. At first I thought this was a great idea. Who wouldn't want a bigger, newer, widescreen monitor? Then I got to thinking. Why does everyone here need a widescreen monitor?

In general, widescreen monitors seem to be taking over the market and I can't figure out why. The only thing that a widescreen monitor would be nice for is to watch video or play high-end video games. Neither of which should be happening at work. Have you ever seen a webpage that scrolls horizontally? Most things typed in Word still flow vertically. Is there a reason our monitors are becoming widescreens and not taller?

What do you think? Do you have a widescreen monitor at home or at work? What do you use it for?

Fact: Everyone Likes Puppies

Everyone likes puppies, right? Of course, they are just so darn cute. That's why you should check out PrettyPuppyPals.com. It's a site that my girlfriend, Katie and I started a while ago when she wanted to blog with me.

You can go and check out all of the ridiculously cute puppies there and even submit your own! The process is pretty painless and it can even get you more exposure for you blog or Flickr stream or however you would like us to give you credit.

So go check out our little project and let me know what you think.

Steve Schreiner for President 2012

Alright, so here's the deal. My dad has always been been saying how politics is so screwed up and that when he runs he will fix it all. He has been saying things like this for as long as I can remember. Finally, he's doing it.

This morning via a Facebook post he announced his candidacy:
"That's it. I've had it with Washington. I'm announcing my candidacy for President. I will focus on jobs, energy, economy and border security. I will repeal the healthcare reform legislation and introduce legislation that will allow no bill over 5 pages long to bring politics back to the people. More details to follow as soon as my Schreiner for 2012 website is up. Thank you for your vote."
I have thrown together a quick Facebook page for him which you can find here. I am also working furiously on getting a website up for him so look out for that soon.

Looking For Tech Bloggers To Collaborate On A Podcast

A good friend of mine, Brad Merrill, owner of UnitedTechGuys.com, is looking to start up a laid-back technology podcast. I've been wanting to get backing into podcasting for a while now and I think with Brad's help I'll be able to get back in and stay in. Here is what Brad said in his post:

I’d like to round up some other tech people out there in the blogosphere and start doing a group podcast every week, or every two weeks.  I’m looking for some varying opinions (e.g. Apple fanboys and Google fandroids).  I want it to be a laid-back, non-scripted conversation about web 2.0, Internet companies, gadgets, computers, and technology in general.

If you're interested, give Brad a shout at brad@unitedtechguys.com. It should be a fun time had by all.

Ramblings of a Blogger

A while ago I was surfing the web and started reading this young man's blog. Now it was fine, it was a small, personal blog and he was blogging on it. Then I noticed the title:
The Ramblings of a College Kid.
It hit me. Why do so many blogs use the word "Ramblings" in their title?

Now I admit, my first blog was titled something along those same lines. That's another reason it boggles my mind. Why is the word "Ramblings" such an enticing word to use as an amateur blog title?

Has anyone else ever noticed this coincidental word choice? Do you know why people use this word on blogs but no where else? Have you made a blog with "Ramblings" in the title?

I've Found The One

Here's something I wrote a while ago. It may be a song. It may have been a Valentine's gift for my favorite person in the world. Either way, here it is.

On any other given day,
I'd sit and throw it all away
A life I wish I had. Things were going bad.
Finally that's in the past

The sun is rising darkness falling,
There's your voice I hear it calling,
I always watch you go, I never seem to know,
What I'm missing without you.

But now I've found the one, the one I've waited for.
The one I love, just can't stop thinking about.
The only one, what would I be without her.
She's beautiful in every way,
The sweetest thing and I must say.
I've finally found.....The one.

I love the feeling, I get when she's with me.
My tongue is tied, my fingers crossed, I hope she never leaves.
And when I look into her eyes, I know that I'll be fine.
Finally, she's here at last, don't need another sign.

What The iPhone Means To South Dakotans

It was announced back in early January that Verizon would be selling the long awaited Apple iPhone 4 to use on their network. Pre-sale for the iPhone started February 3rd, breaking multiple records, and it’s official release is the 10th. This is pretty big news for most of the 605 area because AT&T doesn’t offer much coverage here so the prospect of an iPhone for most of us was limited to moving to a different state. Not anymore. Are you on a different carrier and thinking about switching to Verizon for the iPhone? Are you with Verizon already and want an iPhone? I’ve got a couple of tips that might make your decision on a new smartphone a little easier.

One of the biggest criticisms this new Verizon iPhone is receiving is that it still uses CDMA technology. As all carriers including Verizon are rolling out their much faster, 4G networks, this new iPhone that you will be stuck with for the next two years is quickly becoming old technology and will not be able to make use of these faster airwaves. Verizon is saying that Sioux Falls will have 4G networks by the end of 2011 also.

And YOU get a gun! And YOU get a gun!!

Alright, so since it's been almost a year since I had posted on this blog I figured I would start it out again with a bang. No literally.

Yesterday, January 31st, the Argus Leader posted an easy, legislative story about a proposed gun law. If you're following the same people I'm following on Twitter or another motley band of South Dakota Twitter folk, then your timeline probably exploded just like mine did.

And YOU get a gun! And YOU get a gun!!

Sorry, my Oprah impression isn't what it used to be...

The first people I saw were complaining about what an outrage this is and how they are never going to own a gun! Sadly, all of those people were missing the punch line. This bill has absolutely nothing to do with gun laws. Those people still don't get it...

Then there were the people crying about how much money and time SD's Congress is wasting with discussion of HB 1237. Those people may actually have a valid point. It is costing money to propose a bill that even Representative Wick said, “Do I or the other cosponsors believe that the State of South Dakota can require citizens to buy firearms? Of course not."

Then I pose the question: What then, are our Congressional representatives supposed to be doing if they are not to be debating bills, sharing opinions and making points?

All views aside, I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the Health Care Legislation or this proposed gun law but I do think that Rep. Wick deserves some credit for standing up and making his opinion known in a very different and attention grabbing way. It obviously got our attention.

New Beginnings And New Uses

So I think I have used this blog for just about everything now. My personal rants, tech related blog posts, zombie apocalypse announcements and now we have finally come full circle. This blog is back in action as my new and improved personal rant blog.

I now have a dedicated tech blog called The Tech Blender. That's where I will post all of my in-depth, technically specific posts. Granted, I'm sure technology will slip into this blog more than once but it will always be in doses that everyone can handle.

I've spent a lot of time blogging. Which means I know that chances are, nobody is actually reading this. You know what? I'm ok with that. Going into this revitalization of my blog, I know that I'm going to be the only one reading it and I am going to use that to my advantage. I am going to say whatever I want and that's that. Now if someone still finds my topic interesting or compelling they are free to read it, that's why this is a public blog, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

And there is my ceremonious, first post on this revitalized blog. I hope I enjoy it!
